“I didn’t watch the whole documentary. After a few episodes, it was too painful. I kept wanting to scream at Pam. It took me so long to do so many important things. It’s just hard to accept that I spent so many years being less happy than I could have been. Jim was 5 feet from my desk and it took me four years to get to him. It’d be great if people saw this documentary and learned from my mistakes. Not that I’m a tragic person. I’m really happy now. But…it would just make my heart soar if someone out there saw this and she said to herself “be strong, trust yourself, love yourself. Conquer your fears. Just go after what you want and act fast, because life just isn’t that long.””
I was a little worried that it wouldn’t translate well from the manga, but IT LOOKS LIKE A GIANT INSECT no okay I’m definitely creeped out just the right amount.
I’m just gonna go ahead and headcanon that Mamoru gives Diana ALL THE HEAD RUBS because King Endymion couldn’t actually touch her for so long, they could go through the motions, they could pretend, she could maybe feel a phantom touch on her head, she could act like she could feel it, but he couldn’t actually connect with her.
So when she gets to the past, there’s so many new things and she gets to be with Chibi-Usa again and there’s a zillion cuddles, but she also gets head rubs from Mamoru, who just quietly understands that she wanted so badly to be able to do that for Endymion and couldn’t, so they do it now. Every chance they get, he runs a gentle hand over her head and it makes things just a little bit better.
Aside from it being about my OTP and kissing, so you know, it was already good for me, what I actually love about it is that it’s Mamoru reaching out for her. Usagi glomps onto him earlier, she asks for a good morning kiss, she’s all up in his personal space and he absolutely lets her, he doesn’t pull away or frown at her or indicate in any way that he doesn’t want her doing that–in public, no less!
But this moment. When Chibi-Usa runs off with her friends, a happy little girl playing and laughing and smiling, with Usagi smiling happily after their future daughter, obviously so happy and content with her life, smiling up at Mamoru when she turns to him–
This time he’s the one who pulls her closer and leans in to kiss her.
For someone as reserved as Chiba Mamoru, that’s a huge thing, it speaks to just how much he loves Usagi and how much she brings out that warmth and life in him, how easily he gives her affection when he was so polite and stoic before.
